Important Information

The Oxford Police Department is recruiting to fill law enforcement officer vacancies within our agency.  We are looking for N.C. certified officers and or interested non-certified  police officer candidates that may be eligible for us to send through the Police Academy / BLET Program while being paid as a recruit officer.

Interested candidates should refer to the Employment link on this website for further information and how to apply.  Currently,  until July 1, 2008 our starting salary for new police officer candidates with no experience is $30,648.00 annually.  Additional salary incentives are in place for those certified officers with experience.  Effective July 1, 2008 we expect an increase in this starting salary as well as other increases in the total compensation system.

Breaking & Urgent News

Message from Chief!

We welcome you to the Oxford Police Department and it’s presence on the web. The information provided on this site has been designed for you to easily search for information regarding our law enforcement agency, get to know our staff and officers, review recent news releases, wanted persons information, have some of your
procedural questions answered, register a complaint or a commendation for one of our officers and learn about what additional services the Oxford Police Department provides to our community. We have provided interactive e-mail addresses for our command staff and investigative personnel so that you may contact them through this means if it is preferable for you to do so. We have also included their telephone numbers.

The Oxford Police Department works every day to truly mold our operations into a true partnership with the Oxford community as a whole. We have established an approach called the “PACT” (Police and Community Together), which is the umbrella for all that we do in the establishment of policing strategies which are focused on a “what works approach” to law enforcement. Through this working partnership between residents, business, civic organizations, churches, other government agencies and community groups, we can reduce crime and disorder in our city. The Oxford Police Department, in the spirit of the PACT, will be aggressive in dealing with all criminal activity, ruthless in our efforts, yet fair in our pursuit.

Take a look at our newest tool to report criminal activity in Oxford. Although in an experimental and developmental stage, the Police Activity Map gives you a visual on areas where criminal activity is occurring.

We welcome your feedback and recommendation. Look us over. We are here to serve you.

John M. Wolford
Chief of Police
